Privacy Policy
WishPing — Last updated: July 2026
WishPing (“we”, “our”, “the app”) is a Shopify app that lets customers save products to a wishlist and get emailed about price drops and restocks. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.
1. Data We Collect
When a merchant installs WishPing, we collect and store the following:
- Store information — your Shopify store URL and app configuration settings (wishlist page layout, heart icon placement, email branding).
- Wishlist data — the products a customer saves, which list they’re saved to, the price and stock status at the time of saving, and whether the customer asked to be notified when an item is back in stock.
- Customer identifiers — the customer’s Shopify customer ID and email address, used to match saved items to the right person and to send notification emails.
- Guest back-in-stock signups — an email address and the product it relates to, for shoppers who ask to be notified without being logged in.
- Email activity — a record of which notification emails were sent, to whom, and when, plus a list of email addresses that have unsubscribed.
- Share links — a random token used to grant read-only access to a shared wishlist, with no personal data embedded in the link itself.
- Shopify session tokens — short-lived authentication tokens used to identify your store during active sessions.
We do not collect payment information or any data unrelated to the wishlist and notification functionality.
2. How We Use Data
- To show a customer their saved wishlist items on the storefront.
- To send automatic emails when a saved item is back in stock or drops in price.
- To let a customer share a read-only copy of their wishlist via a link.
- To show merchants which products customers are waiting for and how much revenue those emails have led to.
- To store your app configuration preferences.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing or any other purpose.
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the app:
4. Data Retention
Wishlist and notification data is retained for as long as your store has the app installed. When a customer asks a merchant to delete their data, or Shopify notifies us that a customer has requested their data or asked for it to be redacted, we delete or report on the relevant records automatically. When the app is uninstalled, all of a shop’s data (wishlists, saved items, stock alert signups, share links, and sessions) is automatically deleted from our database once Shopify confirms the uninstall.
5. Merchant Responsibilities
Merchants using WishPing act as the data controller for their customers’ personal data. It is the merchant’s responsibility to ensure their own storefront privacy policy discloses the use of wishlist and notification tools and complies with applicable laws including GDPR, CCPA, and any other relevant data protection regulations in their jurisdiction.
6. Your Rights
If you are a customer whose data has been collected via WishPing, you may contact the merchant directly to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. Merchants can also use Shopify’s own customer data request and redaction tools, which WishPing responds to automatically.
7. Contact
For privacy-related questions or data deletion requests, please contact us at: kpatemanapps@gmail.com
8. Data Processing Terms
By installing WishPing, a merchant agrees to this Privacy Policy and to the following terms, which govern how we handle their customers’ personal data on the merchant’s behalf.
- The merchant is the data controller for their customers’ personal data; WishPing acts only as a data processor, handling that data solely to provide the merchant with the wishlist and notification features described above.
- We will only use customer data for the purposes described in this policy, and only as instructed by the merchant through their use of the app’s features and settings.
- We will not sell, rent, or share customer data with any third party beyond the service providers listed in Section 3, who process it solely to help us operate the app.
- We will delete customer data when the merchant or customer requests it, and automatically delete all of a shop’s data when the app is uninstalled, as described in Section 4.
- We will notify the merchant without undue delay if we become aware of a security incident affecting their customers’ personal data.
- The merchant remains responsible for their own storefront privacy policy and for complying with data protection laws that apply to their business, as described in Section 5.
